Founded in 1898, the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine (NULES) is a prestigious research institution actively engaged in educational, scientific, research, innovation, and industrial activities. Its comprehensive range of activities is dedicated to addressing contemporary scientific challenges related to life and the environment. NULES focuses on the sustainable use, reproduction, and balanced development of bio-resources within terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems.

Our mission extends to the introduction of cutting-edge environmental agro and biotechnologies, the implementation of safety revitalisation and soil fertility technologies, the promotion of energy-saving agricultural practices and the advancement of environmental and legal management in rural areas. We are also committed to monitoring and enforcing compliance with standards to ensure the quality and safety of agricultural products, processed goods, and the environment.

Role in the project

NULES serves as the Leader of WP7 – Culture-building activities, policy recommendations and best practices, of the SecureFood project.

NULES is leading the creation of the SecureFood School, overseeing the development of curricula and training materials for different food system stakeholders. Tailored courses are offered to farmers, processors, traders, policy makers and even younger students using LMCS Moodle. In addition, NULES is working with MINAG to analyse the policy interventions needed at regional, national and EU levels, culminating in recommendations for policy makers based on SecureFood case studies.
