Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Development in Transition Economies
Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Development in Transition Economies (IAMO), established in 1994, is a foundation under public law that provides applied research in agricultural economics, trains scholars, and acts as a forum for scientific exchange. IAMO investigates the development of agri-food sectors and rural areas, particularly in the New Member States of the European Union, candidates and potential candidate countries, as well as other transition issues in countries and regions in Central Asia, and China. Its research fields comprise analyses of agricultural policy framework conditions and arrangement options, markets in the agricultural and food sector, development of enterprises and structures in rural areas, as well as the impact of digitalization an agricultural development.
Role in the project
Within the SecureFood project, the main involvement of IAMO is in WP4 on digital twins and simulators for the food supply chains. In particular, the IAMO team will use the 3D XR-based simulator to analyse the impact of food security drivers on consumer behaviour and supply chain resilience. Also, the Agricultural Policy Simulator (AgriPoliS) will be used to simulate the evolution of agricultural structures over time in selected countries.
