Laurea University of Applied Sciences
Laurea University of Applied Sciences, located in the Greater Helsinki Region in Finland, has six campuses with about 7000 students and 500 employees making it one of the largest universities of applied sciences in Finland. The foundation of our values is formed by openness, impact, and responsibility.
Our security RDI activities under which this project thematically goes are heavily based on co-creation, where together with key stakeholders, we aim to find the necessary solutions. Our specific expertise also includes the evaluation of risk management and the development of operational methods through comprehensive evaluation, as well as multifaceted assessments of operational effectiveness.
We also emphasise ethical considerations, such as the compatibility of solutions with required ethical perspectives and data protection regulations. Ethical competence is an integral part of our strong security research expertise.
Role in the project
Laurea University of Applied Sciences has three main roles in this project. First is related with ethics. Laurea is responsible for the ethics management of the project as well studying the various socioeconomic and ethical aspects related to food security in general and especially related to the SecureFood solutions and outcomes.
The second role is bringing know-how on living labs as it is our privilege to implement the SecureFood Living Labs. Living Labs will be an exhibition and open space for presenting the SecureFood ecosystem with the aim of empowering food actors and improving their knowledge on food security.
The third main role of Laurea is developing a robust communication strategy for delivering clear and reliable messages for action to the food actors in times of crisis, i.e., guidelines for efficient crisis communication management.
